“Exalt the Centre: a series on what holds us together”
In response to exasperating divisions and theological disputes in the first few centuries of the church, a concerted effort emerged in 325 A.D. to bring unity and agreement over the most essential doctrines of the church, resulting in the Nicene Creed – celebrating its 1700th anniversary this year, as a document that has been continuously affirmed by the church world-wide. The unifying force of its core apostolic teaching is becoming increasingly cherished among Christians exhausted by divisions in the church. With the Nicene Creed as our guide, we will exalt in the narrative arc of God’s salvation in Christ, through the Spirit – each line of the creed like a knot in a rope that leads us back to our shared home.
